This year’s Wine Expo seminars will keep you entertained while providing a unique and rare food & wine pairing experience.  We have selected the wine for your enjoyment and partnered with Chef Matt Pennell, recent winner of the Food Networks Chopped Canada program, to provide inspired food.
 
In most cases, the wines (usually 5-7 different selections) are served with three small plates of food.  Please check the descriptions below for more details regarding the wine theme, timing and location for each event.
 
 
Monday, October 27th  -   Marché Moncton Market Kitchen
 
12 Noon — Gluten Free Cooking Seminar
 
This ‘food first’ seminar will of course feature many delicious wines (6), but the focus will be on cooking tasty recipes for people that are Celiac, gluten intolerant or who simply want to reduce wheat in their diet.  This new food trend is not just a ‘no-wheat’ fad, but rather a health necessity for a rapidly growing section of the population.  Join Sommelier Bill Vance and our Chef to learn how to make this healthy diet delicious.

7:00 PM —  Domaine Gayda…Making Waves in SW France  -  Séminaire en français
 
We love the rich, sexy wines of south-western France.  Domaine Gayda is a recent addition to their winery scene and they are making waves with top quality fruit and a dedication to quality.  This seminar will feature several wines from this not to be missed producer accompanied by classic French food from this extraordinary region prepared by our top Chef.  NOTE:  This seminar will be conducted in French by Sommelier Tammy Brideau.

12 Noon  -  Vinarte Romania — Passion & Pride
 
What do you get when you take a group of French and Italian wine loving investors and combine them with the grapes available in an up-and-coming wine producing region like Romania?  To find out, why not go straight to the man hired to deliver on this international vision.  Join winemaker Iustin Urucu from Vinarte Romania for a wonderful tasting of his wines accompanied by food prepared by our Chef.

Tuesday, October 28th  -  Marché Moncton Market Kitchen
 
7:00 PM — Benjamin Bridge Vineyards — World Class Wines from NS.
 
According to the Globe & Mail’s wine columnist Beppi Crosariol, some of Canada’s top wines come from a winery you’ve never heard of.  From world-class sparkling wine that can compete with any Champagne, to the new-to NB wine juggernaut known simply as Nova 7, the wines from this exceptional wine producer are putting Nova Scotia wines on the Canadian map.  And who better to present these uniquely delicious wines than winemaker Jean-Benoit DesLauriers.  Please join JBD and Chef Pennell for this amazing view of the future for east-coast wine.

12 Noon  -  Vegetarian Cooking and Organic Wine
 
This is another ‘food first’ seminar that will also feature an organic wine tasting and discussion.  Most of us are familiar with the notion of vegetarian cooking (salads, veggie burger, etc.) but few of us have attempted to make or experienced a full vegetarian meal.  Sure it’s super-healthy, but it’s too difficult to make truly tasty, inspired food…isn’t it?  The answer is a strong NO!  Join Sommelier Bill Vance and our Chef for a delightfully delicious food presentation and learn more about organic wines too.

                   A marriage made in Heaven
 
This seminar offers an incredible education in into one of our latest passions…Olive Oil.  If your only experience with olive oil is the grocery store variety, or perhaps something offered on a plate a your local restaurant, prepare to be amazed!!!
 
The world of olive oil is as diverse as wine.  And the quality is as diverse as well.  But virtually every person can experience the difference that quality makes in the flavor and nuance of olive oil.  And this fascinating seminar will certainly give you the opportunity to savour many different and delicious oils from around the globe.
 
And one of the great partners for olive oil is balsamic vinegar, and Moncton’s new Liquid Gold Tasting Bar offers a wide variety of flavoured vinegars as well.
