You know that we’re crazy about matching food and wine.  That’s why we continue to offer a full week of opportunities to discover new wines and delicious food preparations and recipes.  These wine and dine educational sessions will keep you entertained while providing a unique and rare food & wine pairing experience. 
 
We know the wine will be great and we are always searching for creative Chefs to work with.  For 2013, we are very excited to have booked Chef Trevor Rowe for the entire week of luncheon seminars.  Chef Rowe is the highly skilled Chef, food writer and part owner of 5 Senses Gourmet.
 
In most cases, the wines (usually 5-7 different selections) are served with three courses of food.  Please check the descriptions below for more details regarding the wine theme, timing and location for each event.

 
 
Monday, October 28th

12 Noon — Exceptional White Wines under $20

This seminar features our ‘Chairman’s Selections’…wines that he believes are not-to-be-missed.  They are certainly not the only wines of interest, just the ones he has selected based on a great combination of grape, country, vintage, etc.
 
Of course this is a varied tasting of wines so the food will be equally variable, and equally delicious.  Each small plate selected and lovingly prepared by our great Chef.

Back by popular demand, this seminar is the perfect introduction to the world of wine and all of the events of the 2013 Wine Expo.  You will be amazed what can be learned in 90 minutes when you have an experienced Sommelier guiding you through a tasting of six wines.
 
Will this seminar make you ‘an expert’.  Let’s just say that you will be on your way to being an expert by the end of the 90 minutes.
 
Note:  This is a wine only seminar…no food will be served.

12 Noon- Slow Food & Wine…Deliciously Healthy

The success of our local weekend markets, and the growing number of extraordinary local food producers is a sure sign that many people are becoming more interested in their food-related health. 
 
There are local groups such as ‘Really Local Harvest’ that are making it easier to find and buy from these quality minded and socially responsible producers.  But it is the international Slow Food organization that has done more for food awareness and enjoyment than any other group.

"To eat slowly in the Slow Food sense, is to eat with a fuller knowledge of all that is involved in bringing food out of the earth and to our table"
 
This seminar will feature a presentation from New Brunswick’s new Slow Food convivium…a group called Slow Food Cocagne Acadie.  The growing number of members includes the public, Chefs, food producers and more…and all are interested in healthy eating.
 
The food for this seminar and wine tasting will be all local, and some of the producers will be on hand to answer questions about their farms.  The menu has been selected in conjunction with Chef Trevor Rowe to highlight the beauty that can be achieved by using the best local ingredients.  While food will be the star, the wines have been selected from some of the better value wines (under $20) of the Expo.

This is something that we’ve never tried before…a seminar featuring sweet wines from all over the world (including the famous Sauternes region of France). 
 
And what would sweet wine be without some delectable foods (mostly desserts) prepared with love and affection by top pastry Chef Tony Holden.  Classic pairings will be explored as well as less traditional but no-less interesting combinations.

The world of olive oil is as diverse as wine.  And the quality is as diverse as well.  But virtually every person can experience the difference that quality makes in the flavor and nuance of olive oil.  And this fascinating seminar will certainly give you the opportunity to savour many different and delicious oils from around the globe.

Originally, this new type of seminar was planned to limit the wines to the under $20 price point.  But when our Chairman peaked at the red wines that didn’t quite fit into that price category, he just had to offer one more seminar.  And these slightly more expensive wines are definitely wines of great interest to any wine lover.
 
There are many fantastic wines available at Wine Expo 2013 in this category and this list is by no means the best or most interesting…just the ones of greatest initial interest to our Chairman.  Of course in this is a varied tasting of wines, the food will have to be equally variable…and equally delicious.  In fact, many of these wines offer tremendous flavor concentration so the food will have to be matched with great care.  And we know our Chef is up to the task.
