The beautifully mysterious marriage of food and wine enhances both sides of a dining experience…a wine’s personality will change and your appreciation of the food will too.   If you’ve ever been lucky enough to have more than one wine served with a particular food item, you know just how fun it is to taste wine in the presence of great food.

The 2013 ‘Prestige Tasting’ Dinner

Most people are not aware of the existence of the Bistro at the Moncton Coliseum Complex.  We know the white linen, candlelight, and the warm and inviting ambiance will surprise them.  They will be very surprised by the food preparations of top Chef Matt Pennell, an experienced executive Chef with a top-notch track record for imaginative and exciting menu creations.  Chef Pennell's resumé includes a stint at a Michelin starred west coast restaurant and it shows!
 
Anyone who has ever attended the Prestige Tasting will know that the wines selected represent some of the most expensive and unique wines of the Expo.  This year’s tasting offers 13 different wine selections to be enjoyed during this extraordinary, multi-course gastronomic experience.

The Frye Festival presents “an evening with
Chef Lucy Waverman and Beppi Crosariol”

The Bistro may be Moncton’s best-kept secret.  The venue is surprisingly elegant for all Wine Expo events, but it is the talent of Executive Chef Matt Pennell that will truly WOW you!  Chef Pennell has a very impressive track record including a stint in a Michelin starred west coast restaurant.  We know he will be bringing his best experiences to this fabulous dinner.
 
This year’s dinner will be host to two of Canada’s most famous wine and food authorities, Globe and Mail food editor Chef Lucy Waverman, and Globe and Mail wine editor Beppi Crosariol.  The menu will be selections from their stunning new cookbook, while the wine is based on the recommendations of the aforementioned national wine authority.
 
Past dinners in support of the Frye Festival have sold out in minutes.  Perhaps it is the casual way that previous ‘celebrities’ have interacted with the attendees…they will happily discuss each course of the multi-course meal.  Or perhaps it is our refusal to offer the rubber-chicken food often associated with fund-raising.  Or maybe it’s yet another chance to enjoy expertly prepared food with at least two wines served per course.  All we can say for certain is that this is a meal that will satisfy your inner foodie, your inner wine lover, and your desire to support the wonderful Frye Festival, Canada’s largest bilingual literary event.
